What and who is funded?

With the FirstGen funding program, IU supports prospective students who are the first in their family to start a university degree. All bachelor’s and master’s programmes in the distance learning programme at IU are eligible for funding.

The funding program is granted regardless of:

  • the study programme

  • the distance learning study model

Eligible for funding are applicants who:

  • secure a place in a distance learning programme within the application period,

  • complete the FirstGen funding application form in full,

  • and explain their First-Generation status and personal motivation in an essay.

Students at other universities, as well as those enrolled in dual studies, myStudium or further education programmes at IU, are not eligible for funding.
