Studying online abroad

Review the exact admission criteria on the page of your desired study programme. If you are studying abroad, the same admission requirements apply as if you were studying in Germany. You can simply apply online. As long as you meet the necessary qualifications, you can study with us even without a high school diploma.

Book your courses online and complete them at your own pace. Optionally, you can plan the semester together with your study coaches. Sit your exams online 24/7 or at one of over 130 Goethe Institutes* worldwide.

*On-location exams at Goethe Institutes are subject to fees for IU students.

Via the online campus, you can organize your studies and access all learning materials –anytime, anywhere.

Here, you'll find motivating tools for every learning style, such as scripts with read-aloud functions, learning videos, or practice exams with sample solutions.

Deepen your knowledge and discuss your questions with instructors and fellow students during online consultations or interactive courses. Stay connected at any time to your student network and our team of staff.

In the final semester, you will write your thesis. After the final exam, you will receive your state-approved degree certificate and transcript of records. If you want, you can celebrate this achievement with your fellow students at the online graduation ceremony. Well done!
